On 10 January 2009, we announced a competition for the urban-architectural design of the Business Centre in Gdańsk Rębiechowo. The deadline for filing submissions was 10 April. BCB funded awards for the total of PLN 225 thousand.

The jury of the competition, comprising Polikarp Maciejczyk – Chairman, Ewa Brach PhD, EngArch – Member of the Jury, Andrzej Duch MArch – representing the President of the City of Gdańsk and Krzysztof Cholewka – Member of the Jury, decided to award two main prizes to:

1. ARCH & PRO Zaleski JR – Pracownia architektoniczna
2. Artchitecture Sp. z o.o.

and three distinctions to:

1. Grupa Projektowo – Inwestycyjna BASS Sp. z o.o.
2. Forma Studio Architektury Sp. z o.o.
3. Schleifer & Milczanowski Architekci S.C.

The highlight of the competition was the exhibition of submissions with a banquet organised by the Management Board in the Haffner Hotel on 16 May. The exhibition was attended by the representatives of the local government, TriCity architects, the University of Gdańsk and the design studios participating in the competition.

In his speech, the President of the Management Board of BCB, Maciej Maciejczyk, presented the prospects of development and the consecutive stages of creating the office-service centre in Gdańsk Rębiechowo, its major impact on dynamising the spaces on the outskirts of the city and raising the quality of the airport surrounding and its attractiveness. The official part of the exhibition ended with the announcement of the awards by President Maciejczyk.
