BCB has been the main sponsor of the Europe’s Day at the Faculty of Economics, University of Gdańsk, again this year. The official Gala was preceded by the conference entitled "Conditionings and challenges of the Polish Presidency in 2011". Speakers included the greatest authorities of Polish science, including prof. Wiesław Bartoszewski, prof. Dariusz Rosati and prof. Jan Barszcz. Also Polish representatives in Brussels gave their presentations via a video conference, including prof. Jerzy Buzek, Chairman of the European Parliament, and dr Janusz Lewandowski, EU Commissioner for financial programming and budget. The conference enjoyed great interest among the students and academics and was attended also by representatives of Pomeranian business and politics. The latter group were represented by Wiesław Byczkowski, Vice-Marshal of Pomorskie Voivodeship, and Jacek Karnowski, President of Sopot.

The eventful day ended with the award ceremony of the competition "Poland in the EU. Conditionings and challenges of the Polish Presidency in 2011". Traditionally, the Europe’s Day was crowned by the Choir of the University of Gdańsk and an enthusiastically received show in the hall ‘0’ by Kabaret Skeczów Męczących.
